Vancouver estate sale

As promised, I’m here with a haul! Photos of a selection of finds we snagged at an estate sale last week.

The house was chock full of fun things and started early on a Thursday morning. This particular estate sale organizer utilizes the list system - the address goes live at 7:00 am and we all rush to get our names on a list posted on the door of the sale. The sale starts at 10:00 and we’re in line at 9:45.

Like a lot of other estate sale enthusiasts, I scoured the posted pictures looking for location clues in the hopes of being close by when the address dropped. Lucky for me, there were lots of clues and I was able to get to the exact location at 6:20 in the morning. I wasn’t the only one there and ended up 10th on the list. Not bad!! By the time I got back at 9:45, the list was up to 99 people.

Allyson and I spent about an hour treasure hunting and we found some super fun things.

Last night I was able to clean up and photograph the bulk of what we found and I’m excited to share the pictures! Please note, our office space is a work in progress and we aren’t really set up for photography yet. I’m hopeful that down the line we can take better pictures, especially flat lays.

My favorite find was the hand-carved fish tray. I gave it a good clean and then used some feed-n-wax to condition her because she was thirsty. She cleaned up great and honestly I kind of want to keep her but NO, I can’t keep every fish tray I find, unfortunately.

I also really love the brown ceramic flower frog. It’s hefty, it would make a great paper weight.

I love picking up mugs. I think everyone likes mugs? I have so many at home which keeps me from bringing home all the cute ones I see out in the wild. Vintage Japanese stoneware mugs are truly something special. A beluga whale? Please!!!

I don’t typically grab salt and pepper sets just because they don’t tend to move from the booth quickly. But the set I grabbed was just too sweet to leave behind. And let me tell you there were a LOT of salt and pepper shaker sets at this sale. Hundreds! I was almost too overwhelmed to look at them all.

This is just a small sample of what we sourced. We’re still working on cleaning everything up and getting it priced and tagged. It always takes so much longer than I anticipate but I do enjoy the process of going through my treasures like a little goblin after a good sale.

I took a look at the sales happening this weekend and nothing really struck my fancy. I’m hoping that next week I can hit up a few thrift stores on my lunch breaks, and maybe next weekend the estate sale options will be more appealing.

Oh and I almost FORGOT! In addition to estate sales I also like to source from online auctions. Especially if I can pickup my wins in person. Below are some fun ceramic pieces I recently won, which I’m also in the process of cleaning up and pricing. I am in love with the sassy tree vase <3
